He's busy as hell, but he does seem to be doing well. We're back on good terms, he's working two jobs, playing in 5 bands (one of which is mine), and he's engaged to a great girl. This is probably the happiest I've seen him, it's pretty cool after a lot of the struggles that he's had. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Tapatalk1 point -
Dad Metal?
Balor reacted to BlutAusNerd for a topic
My girls dig it, they always have. Doom seems to grab both girls attention when I play it, but Winter seems more interested in black metal, and Autumn more in death metal. Both have enjoyed heavy, thrash, and power metal with me, but that seems to be more hit or miss. Music videos with the black metal musicians scare Winter a bit, so I avoid those, but she loves the music. Saturday morning has often started by having her crawl into bed and wake me up by asking "daddy, can we listen to black metal music together?" I'm beaming just writing about this, it's such a cool thing to share with the most important people in the world to me. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Tapatalk1 point -

IRON MAIDEN
Comprodrigue reacted to Requiem for a topic
I was talking to a friend about Maiden just yesterday and said something similar. The first five or six albums have that spirit and energy. Just beautiful, fun, albums. 'Book of Souls' was hailed as a comeback album and I bought it, and it's just not. It's so flat and boring. It's slow paced rock with guitars that saw the (staggeringly) three guitar players forget to turn the distortion on. It has a couple of cool moments, but my nanna with a mop and bucket chances on a good beat occasionally. It's grandpa metal and deserves very little praise in my estimation. Happy for others to like it though (and I do like some of it!)1 point -
Top 10 Heavy Metal Albums
AJ2 reacted to Comprodrigue for a topic
If classic heavy metal is in case, my list would look likr this 1. Iron Maiden-Somewhere in Time 2. Accept-Balls to the Wall 3. Grim Reaper-Fear no Evil 4. Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath 5. Danzig-Danzig II:Lucifuge The rest would be pretty much Maiden. As I am going to pay a listen to Motorhead and Priest soon, list might change.1 point -

Great thing to do if you can, with property prices going up all the time it’s easy money as far as investments go. Interest rates are so low in Australia too so it’s a great time to buy. The Countess and I bought a unit early then sold it to buy the Castle in a decent suburb, and it rises in value by between 5-10k every month. The way I like to look at it is that there’s an imaginary empty swimming pool in the backyard and once a month someone comes along with a wheelbarrow full of cash and dumps $10,000 into it. I just sit here watching the treasure build-up! We plow a lot of our income into the mortgage because as our loan dwindles and the property value rises it’s a good outcome. Come to Australia and I’ll buy you a few ?1 point

Yes!! I just listened to this too. ‘The Cold White Light’ has the best suicidal/self-destruction lyrics I’ve ever heard.1 point

So I am now in talks with the bank to work out if it may be possible to actually buy a property. I'm not 100% certain this will go anywhere but worth a look.1 point -

IRON MAIDEN

Another interesting thread that I've missed. This place just keeps on giving. My favourite Iron Maiden album is probably 'Seventh Son of a Seventh Son'. It wasn't always, but I think for me where I am with music in 2017, this would be the album. It's an absolute classic. Quickly behind it are 'Powerslave' and 'Number of the Beast'. I think I tend to overlook 'Number of the Beast' a little bit because it's so damn obvious, but remember the VERY first time you heard 'Hallowed by thy Name'? Or the title track? As for the 'X-Factor' and 'Vitrual XI' controversy, I don't think I ever heard the latter album, but I've had 'X-Factor' on CD since it came out, and while I don't listen to it these days, I remember it has some pretty decent songs on it. Blaze sounds terrible, but a song like 'Sign of the Cross' is a really good tune.1 point
