Winter had a dance recital today, and since 3 year olds dancing is more about looking cute in outfits than memorizing the routine, I would say that she succeeded. We followed up the performance with breakfast, and Autumn just wanted to sit with me and giggle and play. Got a couple good photos, so why not share? Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Tapatalk1 point -

Not five minutes ago, my son informed me that he is now "the father" and I am "the baby" and so I have to sit there in diapers and whine a lot and I'm apparently not allowed to have the chocolate chip cookies that I made, because he says so. This is after two days of staying home from school with a fever and an awful cough, only to bounce back bright and early on Saturday morning and wake me up asking to play video games. - Alabaster's "Joys Of Fatherhood", Chapter XXI, Parable iv1 point -

It's an endless abyss of quality in the extreme metal world around that time. Now matter how long and diligent your search, there is always more to find. Your comment about the space-time continuum is almost eerie in its accuracy, because it seems impossible that there could always be more, as if someone is constantly sneaking shit into the last to pull one over on us. My coffee was extra krieg this morgen. We ran out of filters so I ground it really fine, let it brew in the pitcher until the grounds had settled out, and then poured it carefully off the top.1 point -

It's gonna be fucking awesome. With any luck I may meet up with some of MF's Aussie contingent as well. In other news I blasted through 'The Krusher' by Asphyx in just two weeks. Now learning 'The Toxic Waltz' by Exodus to wrap up 2017.1 point -

Thats amazing. For once they are trying to use ai for something thats actually fun. Maybe the ai can answer the question in the "what is metal?" topic. I would like to know more about the algorithm they used..1 point -
Another couple of months on, and my honourable-mention-for-favourite-album list has grown further - Ataraxy, Necrot, Purgatoire, Acrostichon, Baphomet, Depravity, Blackthorn...1 point

Will, I totally agree. Some people get all upset about "labels," saying things like, "don't label me!" and "don't label my band!" I've always found this to be confusing and somewhat childish. Here's the thing: labels are NOUNS and without nouns we can't communicate. The anti-labeling thing is self contradictory. For example, if one says, "don't label my band," they are contradicting themselves because they themselves are labeling their own band. They put the label, "band," on their band! Anyway, I enjoy categorizing things, especially music genres, and I find nothing wrong with it. I usually don't classify by lyrical content, but there are some exceptions. Viking metal for example, can only be so through lyrical content, because the sound of the music of vikings has been lost to time.1 point

I think precise subgenres are just an easy way to describe a band as accurately as possible as quickly as possible. For instance rather than saying "this band is a death metal band with lots of time signature changes, interesting song structures and unusual rhythms and melodies" you can just say "tech-death".1 point

I think that makes four of us. Tomorrow night I'll be first fire response at the Meredith Music Festival. There's a couple of bands I'm going to check out mostly the jazz stuff interest's me (not a single metal, prog or heavy punk band there from what I can tell).1 point

The Official Death Metal Recommendations Thread

Didn't hear much mention here of Six Feet Under or Unleashed, two of my favorite bands. Also found out today that Belphegor is Blackened Death Metal (sigh genres) so that means they would be classed under death metal too.1 point
