Christmas is always a 50/50 time of the year for me, so me and my amigos desided to do a Xmas video to boost our morals over this grim season. I hope it could bring smiles to other people as it does to us!

    Paradise Lost

Now we’re getting more Steel Panther than Paradise Lost. Speaking of getting naked for metal, I was listening to the ‘Paradise Lost’ album in the shower today and it was awesome. Nick Holmes’ voice seems right when you’re in the nude.

  13. That is a cool shot - you look like Jean Reno in Leon: The Professional. And that is definitely a win.

I´m not a native english speaker, so it adds a bit of a challenge in getting the point across i suppose. At least Requiem understood me the first time.

  17. Immolation - Unholy Cult ...on repeat. I don't like it quite as much as Close to a World Below, but there was a long stretch of time in which this band could do no wrong, and had probably the most high quality and consistent discography in all of death metal. Not to say that they're not good anymore, but they haven't reached the same high heights since maybe Shadows in the Light. They still dominate live, I just wish their new songs sounded as lethal on the albums as they do in that setting. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Tapatalk

    Morbid Angel

Altars of Madness - Stunning (my favorite death metal album) Blessed are the Sick - Excellent Covenant - Great, but lacking Domination - Turd sandwich Entangled in Chaos - Live album Formulas Fatal to the Flesh - Stunning Gateways to Annihilation - Excellent Heretic - Great, but lacking Illud Divinum Insanus - Turd Sandwich Juvenalia - Live album Kingdoms Disdained - ? Obviously the second group doesn't quite reach the same levels as the first group, but the pattern is striking. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Tapatalk

  20. Guitar is a Dean ML with EMG 83/85 active pickups tuned to C# standard. Amp is a Peavey Envoy 110, a quality mid-level practice amp. The tone I was after (and got) is thick, slightly murky, somewhere between Asphyx-esque and Cathedral-esque. I think I might be able to add some extra depth by messing around with a multi-effects unit I bought a little while ago and recently found again.

    Metal books

One of the best music books in my collection is 'For Facts Sake' by Bob Daisley. Daisley is the original bassist and songwriter for Ozzy Osbourne's solo band, writing almost all the lyrics for 'Blizzard of Ozz', 'Diary of a Madman', 'Bark at the Moon', 'No Rest of the Wicked', and playing bass on 'No More Tears', despite being initially uncredited for the latter. If you know anything about the Ozzy/Sharon saga it's that they are notorious for screwing over (allegedly!) the people who have played and written Ozzy's material, and Bob Daisley is the classic case. He constantly had to fight for royalties and writing credits, temporarily had his bass parts on the first two albums re-recorded by Rob Trujillo at the behest of Sharon before fan disgust reinstated the original performances, and was generally exploited from day one. Anyway, the book is about Daisley's life, from growing up in Australia and moving to England where he played with Rainbow (amongst others) before forming the first Ozzy band with Randy Rhoads and Lee Kerslake. Daisely kept diaries (real ones, not like Nikki Sixx...) of everything as he's an actual diarist, and he has all the facts with specific dates, events etc recorded meticulously. The Ozzy/Sharon material is the most compelling, and it's just incredible how badly screwed over he was by them, despite being their constant go-to man for lyrics and bass performance. I definitely recommend 'For Facts Sake'. Amazing book and an amazing man.
