  5. The best part about those tabloid sites, and it goes for most metal news sites, is they way they can make a 1000 word story from a 5 word headline, without mentioning the headline. All of them just rehash the same shit but put it in a different order, quoting each other where needed and constantly bringing up past news to create arguments in the comment section. In most cases the only 'news' part of the articles is in the first paragraph and even that's often questionable.
  6. Effigy Of Madness - As The Page Burns
  7. KNUT - Challenger +DIY EP [Remaster 2023]. This is not Thatguy weird stuff. I think a lot of you would enjoy this.
  8. Yeah, see. That's exactly the type of drama I just don't have any patience for. I don't really flip out over it, and usually just sorta say to myself, "Well, it's their site. They can run it how they want, but I'm out". My guess is that I had heard of the site somewhere along the line and instinctively avoided it. The self appointed grand inquisitors of the internet are some of the most insufferable people around.
  9. As long as you don't make a habit out of posting your own links in threads that are related to the topic and save them for the "promote yourself" thread I don't have a problem with it. But I'm also not a moderator so don't take anything I say seriously.
  10. Pit Striker - Happy Thrash Friends
  11. Last I heard Metalsucks was in everyone's bad books because they were caught doing something illegal/immoral, but that was about 6 years ago. Don't remember what that was but I have never used the site anyway so it's unsurprising I don't remember much about it. I realise books and podcasts are a different thing, but I have a book called Mosh Potatoes. It's about 15-20 years old now but it's a book of recipes from all sorts of metal musos. There is some weird ones in it but there is also so good feasts.
  12. Awwwww shucks THANKS! Goatmaster for president!!! Hey, we had a KILLER lasagna made by James Pulli (bassist for Impellitteri) at his home on our first episode. Chicken BBQ at Shawn Duncan's place (drummer for L.A. Guns) a couple of months ago. I'm now supposed to be editing our shoot at Sean McNabb's home (he's been around, played for Quiet Riot, House of Lords, Great White for a long time, Rough Cut etc but currently playing for Rhino Bucket), he made us protein salad. This week we're shooting with Michael Olivieri of Leatherwolf and Soul Sign, I'm not sure what he'll cook for us. Now I'm getting hungry (it's only 5pm in California right now)!
  13. Yesterday
  14. Very sad. We did get to shoot an episode of Metal Mastication with Shawn Duncan (current drummer for L.A. Guns) a couple of months ago. We went to Shawn's home and he prepared a mean BBQ for us. He told us how he got to play for Tracii and a bunch of other stories. I'm not sure if I can post the link here, I'm afraid of being tagged as spam because I already talked about the episode with Steve Unger LOL but I gotta share... We just started this Metal Mastication thing (zero budget, just making it happen) and we were so grateful to be received by Shawn in his home, he is a great drummer and a great guy.
  15. Haha I was actually just having some fun with my Aussie forum mate, I know there are lots of chicks into heavy metal. Maybe not so much into some of the really raw shit I'm into, but certainly lots of chicks dig more accessible shit like Metal Church. Hell even I dig the first Metal Church album, consider it a classic, even if I've never liked anything else they've ever done in the 40 years since. But I do enjoy cooking (gotta eat right?) and I love me some breasts of course (goes without saying) so I might check your vid out later for the breasts of fire. Speaking of cooking, it's 7:20 almost dinnertime here, so I should probably whip up something for the boy first before I start a 47 minute video. And if it makes you feel any better you'd definitely qualify as a chick to me, I'm sure I'm way older than you. I haven't met too many chicks in my age bracket who are into actual metal, even most of the dudes my age aren't into real metal. But anyway welcome to our humble abode, and I hope you stick around for a bit. Everything's always more fun when there's a few women around. We don't usually get a ton of chicks in here sadly, save for the occasional angsty teenage chicks who'll wander in for a few days or a few weeks and then disappear again as quietly as they came.
  16. Dissection - The Somberlain Anyone know any albums that sound a lot like it?
  17. They're a relatively well known site because they're associated with both Metal injection and the PRP through the Blastbeat Ad network, but the site itelf is looked at as a joke. i think originally it was started as site that had kind of a humorous take on metal news, while also doing reviews and announcements, but somewhere along the line they shifted to outrage clicks, basically writing "articles" about how band X might be NSBM or how band member Y once said something stupid online 5 years ago....I'm sure you've seen the type. that was when they'd actually bother to write something original...more often than not they would just take a news article from sister site Metal Injection, wait 2 days, and then post the same thing, slightly reworded in a more humorous/snarky manner. Additionally, their actual music coverage was garbage...as a site they seemed completely unaware of anything that came out in the last 30 years that wasn't on a label like Nuclear Blast or Metal Blade, and what new stuff they did talk about was either some kind of prog, tech, or trendy -core band. (this is why I said ACSM was over as a band, because if Metalsucks was aware of you, you were probably about to become mainstream as fuck) The site lasted for the longest time on the fact that their audience hated the two main writers/owners, and enjoyed insulting them throughout the comments section on a daily basis. Gradually though, they started locking down what posts could and couldn't be made, to the point where most of their commenting audience finally wandered away. A couple of years back, the original guys apparently sold the site, or at the very least don't run the day-to-day anymore, and it has become marginally better, but overall you'd still be better getting your metal news and info from your local homeless guy under the overpass than from that site
  18. I'm kind of out of the loop for the big metal websites. Are Metalsucks the big bad guys for a lot of metalheads? What did they do? Only site I've ever just stopped myself from checking in on was a long time ago, and it was due to them refusing to cover a band over some beef with a former band member causing unnecessary drama. I liked the band, but even then I wasn't going to sift through all the dramatic bs and just stopped frequenting the site. It wasn't a boycott or anything. I just have no patience for the non-musical aspects of the members.
  19. Whelp...Metalsucks covered the new Antichrist Siege Machine...safe to say they're officially over as a band worth following 😆
  20. High On Fire - Cometh the Storm Reimagining In The Court Of The Crimson King Toxic Carnage - Praying for Demise
  21. NP: Obscurial - Heretic ▶︎ Heretic | Obscurial | Violence In The Veins (bandcamp.com) Second full length from these death metal guys out of Malaysia. First track kicked in and I thought I was going to hate the guitar tone, and, while it is a little tinny, they manage well and get more than enough heaviness out of it. The musicianship isn't flashy, but the riffs and pacing changes are right on the sweet spot.
  22. I don't often have the time, (or make the time), for watching or listening to podcasts but if I did that looks like one I would watch.
  23. Hello everyone, I'm not gonna lie. Metal is (or was?) not my main thing. I'm more into 80s alternative, post-punk, ska... and my husband is the big metalhead in the house. But since we started doing interviews with metal musicians (I do all the work behind the camera, he does the bookings and the hosting), I gotta say I got more interested. I really love what we've been doing with it. And I'm seriously here just to hear some feedback... but I won't say any more over here, since this is strictly a personal introduction. Other than that, I am a photographer and I have a studio in Santa Monica, California. Thanks for having me here! Cheers, Trillian
  24. You're probably right... though I'm a chick (um, a sort of senior chick hahahah) and I just worked on an episode of a podcast featuring Metal Church bassist Steve Unger... LOL and I was so excited about what we got, I did a search here for Metal Church and your comment was on the top of the search results hahahaha Please take a look - we had a riot with Steve Unger - and the food he made was delicious, plus he played a little bit for us at the end. I feel so lucky, I need to play the lottery right now. Feedback is welcome, please let me know your thoughts!!
